Stress can be totally overwhelming and quite often I let it get the best of me. Tight chest, short breaths, nausea, insomnia, the list goes on and on.
While I am super thankful for all of the knowledge I have to support me through stressful situations, for yoga and spirituality, and for eating food that supports gut and brain health, I am not perfect and sometimes let stress cripple me.
We can’t eliminate stress from our lives, but what we can do is control how we react to it. Journaling can be a great way to release stress, process emotions and help get through the day. Try these 4 journal prompts next time you are feeling overwhelmed by stress!
Journal Prompts:
For days when you are feeling stressed
- In this moment, what can I do to nourish myself physically and mentally?
- Could this stressful situation help me evolve into a more patient, loving or forgiving person?
- What is not stressful about my life right now?
- 3 things I am grateful for are…
Notice how you feel before, during and after you write these journal prompts. Do you feel less or more stressed? Does the weight of the stress feel lighter? Do you feel less tense?
Write a little or write a lot. It doesn’t matter, so long as you are being truthful about the emotions you are feeling.
