This book serves as a path and inspiration for those making the choice to heal and use food as medicine. The author wrote this book after many years of coping with pain caused by inflammation. It is a culmination of her journey to healing and her knowledge in the health/nutritional industry.
As a nutritionist, I would personally recommend this book to anyone who feels like their aches and pains control their life and who is ready to take control of their own health. I obviously wouldn’t make a blanket statement saying that this book is going to be the be-all cure-all if you are currently suffering from ailments, however it is a good resource for using food to heal!
The book is separated into 3 sections:
- Part I: why do we hurt?
- This part breaks down the six causes of inflammation (including allergies and emotions) and healing the gut.
- Part II: the anti-inflammatory menu plan
- This part goes over 5 steps that you should follow to rid your body from inflammation. It has a list of anti-inflammatory foods that you should keep in your fridge/pantry, and what foods you should avoid.
- Part III: the recipes
- There are 120 recipes to choose from that vary from fast healthy food, to decadent slow food. Breakfasts, snacks, herbal teas, dinners, you name it.
