This book has been one of my favourite reads ever. Seriously. It dives deep into trauma and educates the reader how the brain becomes impacted by trauma. Van Der Kolk explains the types of trauma and how to heal from them. Reading this book was incredibly informative as it provides useful tools to guide you on a path towards healing, and liberation from trauma. If you are looking for a “self-help” book that will teach you scientifically proven coping mechanisms to help you grow past living with anxiety and trauma. I would never ever say that this book replaces the help of a professional. However, I personally feel like this is the ultimate self-help book for those who might not have access to or are waiting to see a professional.
