A memoir of food, misery and Paris.
I hadn’t fallen in love with a book this hard in a long long time before reading this. My mom wanted to buy me a gift after graduating Culinary school and this is the book we ended up buying together. Truthfully, I didn’t REALLY know what it was about besides that it was aesthetically pleasing and I like what I read on the back on the book. Once I started reading it, I was hooked. Jackie tells her life story and breaks it down until it is naked. The way she explains her pains, joys and successes throughout her life is simply beautiful. She shares her most embarrassing moments (like when she shit herself in her sleep while she was so exhausted opening her bakery) and talks about the emotional struggles of starting a food business. At the end of each chapter, she shares a recipe and the story behind it. I will definitely be reading it again!
